Official Schedule for 2024-25

The Government of Punjab has officially announced revised school timings for the upcoming winter season across the province. These changes are implemented to accommodate the shorter daylight hours and ensure the comfort and safety of students and staff during the colder months. The new schedule will come into effect starting October 15, 2024, and will remain in place until the end of winter.

Revised School Timings For Students

For all public and private schools in Punjab, the new timings are as follows:

  • Single Shift Schools:
    • Monday to Saturday: 8:45 AM to 2:45 PM
    • Friday: 8:45 AM to 12:45 PM
  • Double Shift Schools:
    • Morning Shift: 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM
    • Afternoon Shift: 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM
  • Double Shift Schools:
    • Monday to Saturday: 01:00 PM to 5:00 PM
    • Friday: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Revised School Timings For Teachers

  • Single Shift Schools:
    • Monday to Saturday: 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM
    • Friday: 8:30 AM to 01:00 PM
  • Double Shift Schools:
    • Monday to Saturday: 12:45 PM to 5:30 PM
    • Friday: 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM

Government’s Decision

The decision to alter school timings was made after consultations with various education boards, teachers’ unions, and parents. The main reasons cited for the change include the low temperatures in the early morning hours and the increased risk of respiratory illnesses among students due to cold weather.
